Following up on the BBX’s mass appeal, we now have the follow-up kit that is sure to capture the hearts of Baja racing and Volkswagen Beetle fans alike!

Enter a brand-new rear-wheel drive BB-02 buggy chassis! This R/C car assembly kit is inspired by Volkswagen Beetles which take part in American off-road races. The chassis offers front suspension arm choices – double trailing arms or double wishbone arms, and features floor pan design motifs with front and rear tire housings to protect the model from dust and dirt. Details such as window net, fire extinguisher, exhaust pipes and roll cage enhance realism. Two new female driver and co-driver figures feature modern off-road race styling. Get ready for this assembly kit, which combines realistic looks and transcendent off-road performance!!!
VW Dune Beetle Cross
The kit follows up on the success of Tamiya's popular BB-01 BBX buggy, shifting the platform over to a brand new R/C car assembly configuration designated as the BB-02. The model's aesthetic is heavily inspired by Volkswagen Beetle-based Baja buggies commonly raced across rugged terrain in the United States and Mexico.

Capture the spirit of Baja racing with the Tamiya RC 1/9 VW Dune Beetle Cross, a rear-wheel drive off-road buggy built on the brand-new BB-02 chassis. Following on from the popular BBX (BB-01), this assembly kit is inspired by the race-prepped Volkswagen Beetles seen competing in American off-road events, pairing an authentic, detail-packed body shell with a chassis engineered for serious off-road performance.
Please note this is an unassembled kit requiring assembly; it ships as a build-it-yourself kit and does not arrive pre-built or ready to run.
The chassis offers a choice of front suspension geometry, with double trailing arms or double wishbone arms available depending on the terrain and driving style, while rear trailing arm suspension and adaptive oil-filled dampers round out the setup. Floor pan design motifs and front and rear tyre housings help protect the model from dust and dirt during hard off-road running, and the sealed gearbox with built-in ball differential keeps the drivetrain protected. Realistic details including a window net, fire extinguisher, exhaust pipes, roll cage, and two new female driver and co-driver figures with full-face helmets bring the model to life.
