This special Hornet is designed by Jun Watanabe, a Japanese creative director famous for website design, collaborative fashion projects, and movie and video creation. His distinctive use of colour has resulted in this unique Hornet which has helped spread the appeal of Tamiya's R/C products to a wider customer demographic.

The Legend Lives On

The Hornet stands as one of Tamiya's most popular R/C cars ever released, helping launch a 2WD R/C buggy boom worldwide. Featuring excellent performance on both dirt and on-road tracks, this awesome buggy can take on any type of terrain. Just like the original, this re-release features an easy to assemble chassis and drivetrain consisting of a durable but lightweight ABS resin bathtub frame, diff gear loaded sealed gearbox, oil filled rear dampers, powerful RS 540 motor and high performance suspension system. The Hornet is perfect for those that used to have one, those that have always wanted one, and for those that want a revolutionary buggy that has earned its place in R/C history.

Description

The legendary Hornet gets a dramatic makeover with this Jun Watanabe color scheme that pairs a black-spotted white body with pink tires and purple chassis, bumper and side guard parts. Damper springs in white add a nice flourish to the model, as do other details like the pink 4mm wheel nuts.

The Hornet is built around a simple yet robust chassis with an ABS box type frame and durable front swing axle and rear rolling rigid suspension setups. The rear oil dampers give it the muscle to take on tough surfaces, while the gearbox is a sealed design to help keep out dirt and debris; the differential gear inside ensures smooth cornering. Three-piece wheels are employed front and rear and paired with front grooved and rear pin spike tires. Black tires are also included in the kit.

The chassis has superb rigidity thanks to reinforced upright and suspension components, as well as a high- traction lower deck.

A highly efficient drivetrain employs 33mm double cardan joint shafts and aluminum joint cups, plus a durable fluorine coated aluminum 20T pinion gear.

Highly agile suspension utilizes TRF Special Dampers, rear stabilizer and titanium coated suspension shafts.
