Apex2 2021 Holden Commodore inspired ST550 Sports Electric RTR RC Car

Team Associated's all-new ST550 Super Touring Race Car is a highly detailed and fun-to-drive Ready-to-Run RC car. Built on a budget-friendly Apex2 Sport chassis, the ST550 includes some of the latest features in racing. A front and rear independent suspension with coil-over shocks and active rear toe give the Apex2 Sport the ultimate in handling on uneven tarmac. Some months on, the Holden Commodore is no more but its most recent predecessor lives on. Opel/Vauxhall, now part of the Peugeot-Citroen group, has introduced in Europe the updated version of the car we knew as a Holden Commodore.

We can’t know for certain if Holden would have imported re-badged Insignias if its future was looking a little brighter.

But it’s interesting to consider what a 2021 Holden Commodore might have looked like.

Visually, there’s not a lot of change to the outer skin. The front and rear have been redesigned subtly, giving the appearance of a lower and wider car.

Of course, there are no certainties the new powertrains and features would have made their way Down Under to live a second life as Holden Commodores, or indeed if GM would have continued at all with the Commodore nameplate at all considering it no longer owns the European-based Opel and Vauxhall brands, but you can now own and inspired by this new Team Associated 1/10 Apex2 ST550.

Super Touring is a segment of motorsports that got its start in the mid-90s. These cars were based on production road cars with extensive modifications made for racing. It quickly became popular among motorsport enthusiasts and RC racers alike. Many RC manufacturers jumped on the popularity of this new class of racing, with Team Associated's entry being the TC3 back in 1999.

Fast-forward to today and the Super Touring class, now called "New Generation V8 Supercar," is still popular. Once again Team Associated has jumped into this popular class, this time with the Apex2 Sport ST550 Super Touring Car chassis. The ST550 features realistic race car looks, such as injection-moulded disk brakes, spoiler, mirrors, and race-inspired graphics.
